Scalloped

Scallops are a detail that I enjoy on wedding gowns.  They seem like a fairly straightforward design element, but the gowns I feature today show a wide range in styles and themes.

This beautiful Claire Pettibone gown features a full lace overlay with an ornate center back detail.  The scallop pattern of the lace against the bare back really sings.

This Demetrios features overlapping embellished scallops.  I love how the scallops subtly increase in size as they reach the hem.

The detail on this Yumi Katsura Couture gown is the only one to give me a mermaid vibe thanks to the sea scallop-inspired detail.  I like ornateness in the pattern which shows a real attention to detail, complete with a ruffled edge like real sea shells.
