My purpose isn't to pick apart someone's body type but rather find the positive and flattering attributes of all shapes and style elements. When you know your own body shape's attributes and challenges you are better able to dress yourself, particularly when it comes to formal and bridal wear.
Celebs on the red carpet are my best example which I use most often but sometimes I will also use other examples.
Here are my personal categories and descriptions for each and obviously a truly adequate description will include more than one category description (each link will refer back to all my posts in that category and you certainly do not have to agree with them) :
- Apple Shape - heavier on top and smaller on bottom with a shorter waist.
- Athletic - slightly harder lined feminine curves.
- Curvy - very distinctive and feminine, soft rounded body features.
- Full Figured - similar to plus size, with soft, rounded and less defined body features. Can also be transitional body types.
- Hourglass - relatively proportionate on top and on bottom with a narrow, defined waist.
- Linear - less defined bust/waist/hips ratio.
- Long torso - a longer waist with shorter legs.
- Pear Shape - heavier on bottom with a smaller top.
- Petite - small in stature and size.
- Plus Size - more over-all weight on a body frame and less defined body features.
- Pregnant - obviously a temporary body shape with a heavier middle, but I also include pre and post pregnancy shapes since they are in a similarly transitional.
- Small Bust - small or less shapely top half.
- Thick - a less defined waist that is almost as wide as the bust/hips.
- Thin - lean, slim.
- Willowy - a thin, light and long frame with long arms and legs.

Hi I think that it is spectacular that this website has different types of body types listed. I personally think that the way you said certain words were great. You used words like thick and plus size. to be honest if I could rate you for 1 to 25. I would truly give you an off the chart 100 percent. The reason for that is you obviously care about peoples feelings (with some don't) as you've shown on your exquisite word choice, great job
Hi it's me again. I would like to make a statement on The Bridal Dictionary. I personally don't think that it's that helpful. like for example it talks about the different types of dresses I thought as saying Bridal Dictionary that it would help first time brides with there mean of stuff like the usher. Had to go on another website just to find the meaning which is not that big of a problem. Just asking can you be more specific...thanks
