Red Carpet wedding style - SAG Awards 2011

Happy Groundhog Day everyone!
I was slightly more satisfied with the SAG awards fashion than the Globes.
Let's get on to the round up shall we?

Fashion critics dissed Wynona Ryder in Alberta Ferretti and while I didn't think it was too bad, I feel she could've done better; it comes across a bit flat and washed out.

Jenna Ushkowitz again dons a glamourous formal look that can easily be interpreted by a bride.  (Designer unknown, source pictures lacked further description!)

Nicole Kidman in black, lacy Nina Ricci was also dissed but honestly I loved it!  While the lovely ruffled and lace illusion neckline was seriously ruined by the necklace I think this whole look is lovely as is in black or interpreted in bridal white.

Illusion lace? Love!  Sleeves?  Love!  Ruffled neck?  Love!  Flattering A-line cut?  Love!  Slightly shattered hair?  Love!

Heather Morris in Romona Keveza wears an effortless classical look.  Hair is relaxed yet "done" and while the silhouette is classic with a natural waist and A-line skirt, the funky feathered bodice and not-quite-nude color are modern without being too trendy or dated.

As far as bridesmaid looks, I loved the simple and classic look of Diana Argon in Chanel.  With the A-line cut, the soft sweetheart neckline, subtle not-too-shiny sparkle, the natural waist tie, and the tea length, this is one of those universal silhouettes that really does flatter almost all figure of bridesmaids and one that almost any girl can feel comfortable in.

Julia Stiles in Monique Lhuillier sports a soft yet unfussy bridesmaid look.  Since bridesmaids looks are almost always uniform and solid, something like ombre adds interest.

I also like Claire Danes in a colorful printed gown (designer not mentioned!) and loose hair.  I like her in print and color and the belted dress is unexpected.

For young attendants I really liked Ariel Winter.  I don't know who made her gown and have no earthly idea who she is or how old she is but her gown is cute, modest and classic for a flower girl or junior bridesmaid at a less formal occasion.

For a formal junior bridesmaid I liked Hailee Steinfeld in Prada.  The trumpet cut still looks modest, age appropriate, fashionable yet not uncomfortable on her adolescent figure, the stripes are bold enough for a teen's liking and being flexible on the hair would let a young girl feel like herself.

And new category:  Mother looks!

Christine Baranski looks stunning in this age appropriate look (designer not mentioned in source).  Real life moms and their daughters though might feel more comfortable sewing up that keyhole cutout!  That way mom looks stunning as ever but doesn't look like she's competing with the bride.

Annette Benning also looks stunning (actually they both look pretty good!)  The jeweled illusion neckline and neutral color, best for a formal evening wedding, is a great example of how confident mothers can show off the assets and feel hip but still please daughters and brides by covering it up.  I also love that while it is stunning in its own right, it will not compete with the bride.

Even though Jenna Fischer (in Fendi) is far too young to be one herself, I really like her overall look for a mother that doesn't want to feel too bare but still look glamourous.  Just make sure to crack a bigger smile!

Jayma Mays is also much too young but I really like the style and color of her Jenny Packham gown for a mother look.  The drape is flattering and like all these examples, not too bare.
