Vogue recently featured the wedding of Lauren Bush (niece of former president George W.) and David Lauren (son of famed designer Ralph). The setting was Ralph Lauren's rustic Double RL Ranch in Colorado.
The bride and her groom both wore custom Ralph Lauren ensembles.
The bride's Victorian era inspired gown featured an embellished illusion high neck gown with sleeves and an open back. A modern touch was the corset style frame of the gown falling to an over-layed A-line silhouette. She accented the dress with a clean net veil and diadem headpiece.
I think the picture below looks "Neo-vintage", kind of like a modern American Gothic although it would not look out of place in a vintage photo album.
Here is the bride being escorted in a horse drawn authentic Victorian period carriage.
This last picture has a stunning view with the vast field, the tree line and the mountains in the background.
What do you think of Lauren Bush's gown: love it or hate it?
Truthfully I am not wild about it. While I understand the theory of balancing a high neckline and long sleeves with a bare back, I don't think it looks very comfortable and find that visually the look is too severe for my taste. I guess I prefer a more open neckline and/or shorter sleeves with a less bare back.
P.S. I really hesitate to file this under "CelebWed" since I don't consider socialites famous by association to be "celebrities" but at the same time it really doesn't fit under another category.
