Finally, a full Red Carpet Wedding Inspiration post! I've actually missed doing these but I find that its such a chore if I don't actually enjoy the fashions. When I looked through the Billboard Music Awards red carpet I actually managed to find some winning looks so here it is.
First up is Zooey Deschanel in a retro-mod sequined shift dress by Moschino. She's really into the mod look for her red carpets lately isn't she? Overall its a cute look with the exception of the tights being a bit too dark. I really like this dress for a "departure" outfit, particularly if you've already done a vintagey bohemian gown; it would be like the other spectrum of the decade.
Next up is Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland! Just kidding, that's singer Brandy, but at first glance I really did think she was Kelly. Brandy is rocking a cute little drop waisted mini in a cream that nicely illuminates her skin tone. I love her natural curls here, they look so fresh!
Jordin Sparks looks great in a lace Diane Von Furstenburg mini with 3/4 sleeves. The cream color makes her look just a smidge too pale but overall she looks radiant. She is clearly flaunting that recent weight loss! Jordin is a tall and curvy girl and I love that she looks perfectly proportionate here. This would make another great departure dress or even an engagement photo dress.
Julienne Hough also looks great in her mini, a sequined Kaufman Franco. Julienne is slim and petite so most anything looks good on her but cocktail numbers in particular seem to help lengthen petites, and the diagonal contrast detail of this dress certainly helps. I really love the lighter color of the dress and that it isn't too tone-on-tone with her skin color.
I don't really know what I think of Lisa Marie's gown. The tiered skirt looks cute on her but she need to take off that heavy blazer and show off the bodice!
I'm also drawing a bit of a blank with Natasha Bedingfield's sheer embellished powder blue gown. The top is nice but the bottom seems too sheer overall. I would really love this even as a unique colored wedding gown with a bit more coverage, perhaps more layers in the skirt.
Hi Usher, what are you doing here on a wedding dress blog?!? I normally don't include men's fashion since I admit that it tends to bore me but I actually like this colorful blue suit and chambray dress shirt with those grey suede shoes.
One of my favorite looks was Katy Perry's ombre lilac Blumarine gown with cut out back detail. I love the neckline, sequins, and barely there color and I can appreciate that the cut out isn't too low in the back. I also both love and hate the tone-on-tone thing she did with her gown, hair and make-up colors. While I think the dark purple hair and lip color is too harsh for her pale skin tone, I also really love that she takes risks like incorporating different spectrums of the color purple into her whole look. She really knows how to take a theme and run with it. I love the subtle color of this gown for a wedding dress.
One of my other favorites of the night was Tayor Swift's red lace Elie Saab gown with gathered skirt and sleeveless paneled bodice. At first glance (and probably on anyone else but Taylor) this bodice looks a bit risque and you almost have to do a double take. But I've included the close-up and it is clearly evident that there is nude paneling going on. I actually like the idea of this gown for bridesmaids.
Carrie Underwood in a tulle Oscar de la Renta has on what is probably my favorite dress of the night. I love the color, the rouched bodice, and of course the poufy tulle ball skirt. My only issue with it is that its a bit big for petite Carrie! She looks great from the waist up, but just a bit swallowed up by fabric from the waist down. I also do not think the rounded shoulder, pigeon toed pose does her any favors and maybe she'd look better if she stood up straighter and prouder and leveled her shoulders.
These were my favorite looks. Which look was your favorite?
